The Institute for Journal Development, Publications, and Intellectual Property Rights (LPJPHKI) is an official academic publishing and intellectual property management unit of Universitas Airlangga, one of Indonesia’s leading research universities. LPJPHKI operates as a non-profit, mission-driven academic publisher, fully embedded within the university’s governance structure and aligned with national and international standards of scholarly publishing.
LPJPHKI is responsible for the strategic management, development, and quality assurance of the university’s academic journals and intellectual property outputs. Its mandate covers editorial capacity building, journal accreditation and indexation, publication ethics oversight, digital publishing infrastructure, and the protection and commercialization of intellectual property rights.
Currently, LPJPHKI manages 108 active peer-reviewed academic journals across a broad range of disciplines, including health sciences, nursing, medicine, natural sciences, social sciences, law, economics, engineering, and the humanities. These journals are developed in close collaboration with faculties, research centers, professional associations, and national and international scholarly networks. A substantial number are indexed in reputable international databases such as Scopus, WoS, DOAJ, and other recognized indexing services. LPJPHKI is led by senior academics and publishing professionals appointed by Universitas Airlangga, supported by dedicated teams specializing in journal development, editorial systems, publication ethics, digital platforms, and intellectual property management. Editorial boards of journals under LPJPHKI consist of qualified scholars with relevant academic credentials and research track records, including international editors and reviewers where appropriate.
The institute regularly conducts capacity-building programs for editors, reviewers, and journal managers, focusing on peer review quality, editorial decision-making, publication ethics, open science practices, and bibliometric performance.
